We come across space issues on our computer all the time and as a result start looking for files that can be deleted and programs that can be uninstalled to free up space on the computer.

In this post we will show the functionality of a free tool that will show a complete picture of the system and files along with the size of folders and files.

Time needed: 3 minutes

  1. Download WinDirStat

    Visit https://windirstat.net/download.html and click on the link for “Download WinDirStat 1.1.2 from FossHub“.
    (Additionally, the .zip file can also be used)

  2. Review the FossHub page for WinDirStat

    Click on “WinDirStat Windows Installer ” to download the .exe for WinDirStat

  3. Install and Run WnDirStat

    Double click the downloaded .exe for WinDirStat to install it:

  4. View System Details (External drives are also supported)

    Select the drive for which WinDirStat will run a scan or select individual drives and click OK

  5. View Results

    Once the scan is completed, the results as shown with details at folder and file level.
    Clicking on the blocks in the results window will take you directly to the file. Larger the box, bigger the file size.
